They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks

Last week I went to a wedding of a friend – Mark and I have known each other for over twenty five years and keep in touch every now and then, so it was fantastic to catch up with him and also with so many others from the past.

We used to attend the same circus skills workshop and along with another friend, Mike we formed a circus act called “The Flying Frick Circus Company” which we performed at local fetes and events.
Mike had flown in with Paivi his wife, from Jordan to be there and it was so good to catch up face to face rather than on Skype or Messenger. The rapport was still there and we shared many many laughs of previous scrapes even if it took all of our combined memories to fully recall events!

With so many jugglers in attendance it was only a matter of time before people started “doing their thing”! and even though I hadn’t bought any equipment along, I was able to borrow some clubs.
Mark, still dressed in his groom’s outfit and I had a go at “seven doubles” something many years ago I had been able to accomplish reasonably easily ……….. but after fifteen years of no practice?

Above are my first two attempts, which unknowingly somebody recorded.
For me this proves two things:

1. Mark can still catch any old rubbish I throw at him and
2. Whilst the saying goes “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” perhaps “sometimes an old dog remembers an old trick” would be more appropriate in my case!
